The Los Angeles Clippers managed to keep Blake Griffin long term after trading away Chris Paul. Griffin turned down meetings with the Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets after agreeing to a new deal with the Clippers. The contract will see Griffin make $173 million over the course of the next five seasons.
Griffin will be the face of the franchise as they attempt to grow without Paul at the point guard position. It would have been ugly for the Clippers if they lost Paul, Griffin and JJ Redick all in one offseason. Redick is expected to leave the Clippers in free agency. Griffin at least gives them some hope to stay relevant.
