The New York Knicks are rolling in the new year. The Knicks defeated the Phoenix Suns 98-96 in overtime Monday night to win their fifth straight game.

Carmelo Anthony led the way with 29 points and 16 rebounds, both game highs.

After a dismal start to the season, the Knicks seem to have figured things out. Despite the constant J.R. Smith distractions, they’ve won six of their last seven games and are one of the NBA’s hottest teams. We could be talking about seven straight wins if not for one particular boneheaded play against the Houston Rockets.

Reigning NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week Carmelo Anthony has averaged 25.9 points, 9.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists during the stretch. Check out Melo’s game highlights below.

How is Melo with 24 shots only a +2 for the night while Shumpert is a +13 with only 5 shots in almost 38 minutes???????? Seemed to be a whole lot of gms where Shumpert seems to be a uch more effective players than “shoot at all costs” Melo. Is there a NBA +/- stat for players?
