The Cleveland Cavaliers have traded Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics but would have preferred a trade with the Golden State Warriors. Reports have surfaced about Cleveland contacting Golden State in hopes of pulling off an Irving for Klay Thompson trade for a rare deal between rivals.
The Warriors turned this down due to multiple variables. Stephen Curry is already their point guard and it makes no sense to mess with the chemistry. Thompson is also a better shooter and defender. Irving’s future isn’t sure either with his free agency coming in a few years. Golden State decided to stick with what works rather than go for a risky addition.
