The blockbuster Kyrie Irving trade between the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers has been made official. Cleveland wanted one more piece following the news of Isaiah Thomas’ hip injury being worse than expected. Boston added a 2020 second round draft pick to the mix to make it official.
Cleveland now gets Thomas, Jae Crowder, Brooklyn’s first round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft and the aforementioned second round pick. The pick doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme of things, but it helps add something extra that they didn’t have last week.
This proves the Celtics believes strongly in Irving being the face of the franchise. One minor pick being added is worth it if he is their man.
