The Boston Celtics have officially acquired Kyrie Irving after sending multiple assets to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Many fans and pundits wondered why they didn’t go after Jimmy Butler from the Chicago Bulls who would have asked for less. Butler is considered a better all-around player than Irving.

According to multiple sources, Boston didn’t feel the combination of Butler and Gordon Hayward would work. The Celtics believed both men played a similar style and would clash leading to two ineffective superstars.

Danny Ainge was very safe with trading assets but Irving is apparently the man he believes in. Kyrie will have a chance to prove him right or wrong starting this season.
