The trade of Kyrie Irving from the Cleveland Cavaliers to Boston Celtics was made publicly official today with an introductory press conference. Irving was asked the hard hitting questions about his decision to leave. The term “maximizing potential” was used as the main reason for wanting the new opportunity to grow as a NBA star.
Irving said the following about not speaking to LeBron James throughout the summer but has a lot of respect for his former teammate.
“No, I haven’t spoken to (LeBron). And my intent, like I said, was for my best intentions. And to look back at the amount of ground we covered in the last three-year span – or even before that, because we had a prior relationship – and to really realize how special that was and how much growth happened in that amount of time, I’d be sitting up here and telling you guys a lie if I didn’t tell you I learned so much from that guy.”
The NBA world will be witnessing the opening night game when Cleveland hosts Boston.
