The Los Angeles Lakers organization was fined $500,000 from the NBA for team General Manager Rob Pelinka having conversations with Paul George’s agent this summer. Many pundits believe George joining the Lakers is already a done deal when he enters free agency next summer.

Lakers President and legend Magic Johnson has offered to pay the fine issued by the NBA. Johnson said the following about the fine:

“We can’t say a lot but we will correct the situation. It’s under my watch. I apologize to Jeanie, and that was the main thing. I told her she could take it out of my salary because I don’t want the Lakers to be paying that fine. … I don’t want her spending $500,000, because she didn’t do anything. That’s on me.”

If the Lakers acquire George and any other stars next offseason, this fine is more than worth it.
