Otto Porter is benefiting from the cap space changes and the increase of max contracts. The Brooklyn Nets came to terms on a 4 year, $106 million contract that he signed an offer sheet for. The Washington Wizards will have three days to match the offer if they want to keep him.
It is expected that the Wizards will indeed pay the big bucks to keep the talented 24 year old. Brooklyn took the risk in hopes of adding a young asset with great potential to the team to pair with D’Angelo Russell.
Washington would see their chances of contending in the East decrease if they don’t keep Porter. That could impact John Wall’s decision to commit long term.
