The Toronto Raptors improved their roster with a surprising trade today acquiring Serge Ibaka from the Orlando Magic. Toronto sent Terrence Ross and their 2017 first round draft pick to Orlando for Ibaka. The biggest flaw for the Raptors has been the lack of a credible power forward.
Ibaka has struggled on the Magic after many years being one of the best defenders in the league on the Oklahoma City Thunder. Toronto gives themselves a better chance at upsetting the Cleveland Cavaliers in the playoffs by forming a big three with Ibaka, Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan. Ibaka will be a free agent in the summer making this a potential rental if it doesn’t work out.
