The Detroit Pistons have high hopes of contending in the Eastern Conference this season but will miss Reggie Jackson in the early games. Jackson suffered a knee injury and is expected to miss the following 6-8 weeks. NBC Sports reports Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy stated Ish Smith will start at point guard until Jackson returns.
Detroit will have to remain in contention for a playoff spot during Jackson’s absence and hope his return takes them to the next level. Jackson’s 6-to-8 week timetable on the injured list will see him miss between 12 to 20 games. The loss is huge for Detroit and they’ll need other players to step up right away.
