The Oklahoma City Thunder and Russell Westbrook have agreed to a five-year contract extension worth $205 million. It is currently the richest contract in NBA history that will see him make $41 million per season during the deal. Westbrook is now officially a member of the Thunder until 2022-2023 assuming there’s no trade.
Oklahoma City trading for both Carmelo Anthony and Paul George in the same offseason likely showed Westbrook the team is serious about winning. Westbrook signing takes away the rumored dream of LeBron James to join the Los Angeles Lakers with Westbrook at his side.
Funny enough, Westbrook signed the richest deal in NBA history on Kevin Durant’s birthday.
