The San Antonio Spurs have signed Rudy Gay to a contract worth $17.2 million over the next 2 years. Gay suffered a torn Achilles last season with the Sacramento Kings. Many expected to opt in to another year of his contract remaining in Sacramento for $14.3 million.
Gay instead chose to become a free agent and find a better situation. The talented scorer will now get a chance to play for the incredible Spurs franchise. Gay is expected to come off the bench as a sixth man. An average of 18.4 points per game shows just how great of a scorer Gay has been throughout his career. San Antonio gives him his first realistic chance to contend for a title in a smaller role.
