The Golden State Warriors considered improving their already loaded all-time great roster. Paul George being moved featured the Warriors having a short talk with the Indiana Pacers regarding a deal. Indiana wanted Klay Thompson in any trade involving George causing Golden State to shut it down.

George said the following about the trade talks.

“Yeah, I think that would’ve been the Chris Paul-to-L.A. situation where they denied that trade. Yeah, I was aware of it. I would’ve looked forward to it, of just being in a good situation and a chance to compete for a championship. But it didn’t happen. It’s still fun to team up with a special talent and have a chance to compete against that team.”

It worked out best for everyone that George instead was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
